Are Banks Closed Today? Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti or the Prakash Parv of the tenth Sikh Guru will be celebrated on January 17 this year. The day will commemorate the 357th birth anniversary of the last personal Guru of Sikhism. Thus, banks will remain closed in Chandigarh.

On the other hand, banks in Tamil Nadu will remain shut on January 17 in observation of Uzhavar Thirunal.

In January 2024, banks in India will observe closures for 16 days. Those with urgent banking needs should take note of the designated holiday dates.
